Firstly, Happy New Year to you all and I hope your Christmas season was full of magic and joy!
Now, is anyone else currently regretting
a) the amount of giant crap they gifted their children
or
b) certain items that seemed such a good idea but in reality are proving to be a terrible decision?
πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ its both for me!
I do feel that Argos and its 3 for 2 deal has a certain amount to answer for here (nothing to do with my inability to rein my excitement of ‘free stuff’ in obvs) as I may have ended up spending more than I intended just so that I could get the best value out of it π and by that, I also mean that I may have purchased huge plastic monstrosities as advertised on various top toys for Christmas lists purely so that I could feel like an A Star mummy- oh the shame of falling for the hype!
Said monstrosities are now cluttering up the children’s nice, new bedroom and collecting dust as THEY DONT SODDING WELL PLAY WITH THEM!

My second epic Christmas gift failure was the purchase of a games console.
Both children really enjoy playing games on my phone and so whilst feeling in a festive, generous mood I suggested to Daddy that a games console would be a winning gift that will grow with them year after year.
Then, as he gave me that ‘you are either drunk or living in an alternate universe’ look, I finished by saying how wonderful it would be to play the games as a family. Now what Daddy didn’t know at the time, was that I had already purchased and hidden said games console and had suddenly thought I ought to mention something before the big day π¬
So as I had envisioned, on Christmas morning my little Poppets were overjoyed with their gift ( I am lying – they didn’t have the foggiest what it was) and once my first born had set it all up the fun (lol) began. Within ooh around ten minutes, Ethan was throwing a strop of massive proportions, everyone was shouting at each other and nobody ever wanted to turn it on again π
Yet we did turn it on again, over and over again and mostly with the same results π
Things have calmed down a little now that the initial excitement about it is over but playing games as a family with a Pdaer is definitely a pretty painful and exhausting mission!

Ethans favourites are currently Mario-kart which is great fun as long as we use the character and vehicle he tells us to use and then stay well behind him at all times whilst trying to knock everyone else off the track so that they cant beat him!
Smash Bros is also a winner as its a fighty, battle game, but again we cant win and if we do win by accident, we are no longer allowed to be that character.
So here’s to a new year, tripping over toys, computer generated strop fests and dry January ending soon (thank goodness)! πΎπΎπΎ
